Classical education

Effective learning with a greater purpose.

Classical Christian education nurtures the next generation of believers to live a life transformed by a deeper love of Christ, His universe, and His people. Tens of thousands of parents are embracing classical Christian schools because they can see the difference. These parents want their children to flourish in life, not to "just get by." They want this for their children’s whole lives, not just for college.

Why is classical education so effective? Because it’s rooted in a time-tested approach to learning — the Classical Trivium. The Trivium is a blueprint for when and how best to educate students during their development. It strategically divides the learning process into distinct stages which best develop a knowledgeable, thinking, and articulate student.

You'll find the complete stages of the Classical Trivium below:

The Trivium Stages

The Grammar Phase

(Elementary Age)

Young children are especially adept at memorization during the early, foundational phase of learning. Because of that, classical educators can utilize a combination of learning techniques that include rhyme, song, motion memory, visual aids, and more —all techniques designed to engage the child’s memory.

The Logic Phase

(Junior High Age)

With a foundation of facts in place, the second phase capitalizes on the child’s natural inclination to question the world around them. Classically educated students are taught the skills they will need for critical thinking — important tools required for wisdom in reasoning and argumentation.

The Rhetoric Phase

(High School Age)

As students mature and their self-awareness grows, so too does the importance of eloquent and accurate self-expression. During this final stage of the Trivium, classically educated students are challenged by their teachers to explore and refine their persuasive skills, both in speech and writing.
